Chanda Mahjabeen: A Life Story
On June 5, 1962, a child was born in a peaceful rural area of Sylhet, named Chanda Mahjabeen. The day of her birth seemed to brighten the first light of dawn even more. Her father’s strong ideals, her mother’s warmth, and the gentleness of the surrounding nature made the child’s life already resemble the beginning of a story. Chanda’s paternal roots were in the Anwara region of Chittagong, while her maternal roots were in the Kulaura area of Sylhet. From a young age, she learned that life wasn’t just about birth, but about standing on one’s own feet and walking one’s own path.
Chanda’s father, Kamal Uddin Ahmed, was a government employee, and due to his assignments in various districts across the country, Chanda’s childhood was spent moving from one city to another. From an early age, Chanda became accustomed to adapting to different environments. Her father was not only a government official but also a war hero. During the Pakistani rule, he held a government post in Mujibnagar, and after independence, he became the first District Commissioner of Dhaka. In little Chanda’s eyes, her father was the standard of everything, the ideal, and the greatest teacher of her life.
Childhood and Education: The Independent Student
From childhood, Chanda Mahjabeen was known as an independent-minded girl. She would simply say, “I will do things my way. I don’t believe in doing things imposed on me.” This independent attitude was evident from the very start of her education. She completed her SSC at Dr. Khastgir Girls’ High School in Chittagong, followed by HSC at Nasirabad Girls’ College. She then obtained her graduation degree from Chittagong Commerce College and later earned an LLB degree under the University of Dhaka.
Throughout each step of her education, Chanda left her mark of talent. Until class nine, she had studied at Viqarunnisa Noon School. Even during the Liberation War, she remained committed to her studies. The teachings, moral perspectives, and the value of doing good for people that she received from her father guided her life on the right path.
Family and Ideals
Chanda Mahjabeen was devoted not only to education and work but also to the ideals in her personal life. Her father was her only ideal, who taught her to “do good for people, think positively, and be honest and just.” Her father’s perspective and his courage during the Liberation War shaped Chanda’s mindset.
Her grandfather practiced law in the Comilla court. Due to this, her father lived in Comilla for a long period. Little Chanda would spend time with her father and received the first lessons in life through her father’s ideals and actions.
The Beginning of Sports and Social Life
In 1981, Chanda Mahjabeen married Mohammed Mosabber Hossain, a footballer of the national team and a striker for Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club. Her commitment and sense of responsibility towards her family and children have made her a role model as a woman and mother. Currently, she enjoys a happy life with three sons, one daughter, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
Chanda Mahjabeen has always been friendly and talkative from childhood. Her friendly nature and willingness to stand by people have kept her socially active even today.
Professional Life: Drama and Business
In the 1980s, Chanda Mahjabeen became a beloved face on BTV dramas. Her acting skills left a lasting impression on the hearts of the audience. She didn’t just limit herself to acting; she was also involved in directing dramas.
Currently, Chanda Mahjabeen is involved in the petroleum business. However, her professional success is not just financial but also includes her active participation in social and educational work.
Educational Platform
Chanda Mahjabeen publishes educational videos on her personal platform titled “Don’t Give Up, My Friend…” She has over 2,000 educational videos on YouTube. On her Facebook page, Quotable Quotes of Chanda Mahjabeen, she shares numerous proverbs based on life experiences, inspiring people to face the challenges of life.
Her motto is, “There is only one life… don’t be discouraged by difficulties, but fight to win.”
The Creative Shape of the Story
Chanda’s life is not just a personal story. It’s a story of discipline, hard work, education, family, and social responsibility. From childhood to youth, teacher to freedom fighter, actress to businesswoman, Chanda Mahjabeen has established her character and humanitarian perspective at each stage of her life.
